An area of showers...with a few embedded thunderstorms...will continue to move northeast around 25 mph over southeast New Mexico...the upper trans Pecos and northern Permian Basin. Through 6 PM CDT...the thunderstorms are expected to stay west of a Andrews and Monahans line. Rainfall amounts will generally be one tenth to one quarter inch with isolated amounts around one inch with any of the thunderstorms. Gusty winds to 40 mph...frequent cloud to ground lightning and local flooding of low lying areas may accompany any thunderstorms.

Flood Warning
Issued by the National Weather Service at 9:59 am CDT on September 07, 2008


The Flood Warning continues for
the Rio Grande at Presidio international bridge.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9am Sunday the stage was 18.0 feet (5.5 meters).
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 15.5 feet (4.7 meters).
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 19.1 feet (5.8
meters) by after midnight tomorrow then begin falling.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet (6.1 meters)... river remains between levees.
The flood plain between the levees inundates. Erosion of the
levee is likely. Seepage of water through the levee may result in
flooding of area farm land.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Rio Grande below Presidio 5se.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9am Sunday the stage was 12.5 feet (3.8 meters).
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet (2.7 meters).
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 15.0 feet (4.6
meters) by tomorrow evening then begin falling.
* Impact... at 16.0 feet (4.9 meters)... major flooding begins and
levees near Redford may be damaged. Significant portions of
farmland will be indundated. Highway 170 may also flood.

The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Rio Grande at Lajitas.
* From Monday afternoon until further notice... or until the warning
is cancelled.
* At 8am Sunday the stage was 11.5 feet (3.5 meters).
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet (4.0 meters).
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow early afternoon and
continue to rise to near 13.5 feet (4.1 meters) by early Tuesday
morning.
* Impact... at 11.5 feet (3.5 meters)... water approaches the fenced
in
park area at 11.5 feet.
