Short-term forecast
Issued by the National Weather Service at 6:33 PM CST on March 11, 2010

Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible across North Texas through the early evening hours. Rainfall amounts will average less than a tenth of an inch. However...given the very dry airmass in place near the surface...the evaporating precipitation will cause the wind speeds to increase in a short time frame. The locations most likely to see the higher winds will be south of Interstate 20 where the air is the driest. Wind speeds will range between 25 and 40 mph with a brief gust up to 45 mph. The threat for high winds will diminish as temperatures cool once the sun sets.
